On Saturday February 7th I will be the guest of Rob Bruey at his performance at The Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport. Robert is a wonderful songwriter and a dynamic performer. His album Carousel has a favorite on the folk music charts. Come on out this will be a wonderful evening. Singer-songwriter Sara Hartman rounds our the evening, Sara is a talented young songwriter, whose stage presence is charming and whose songwriting is top notch. Music starts at 8:00pm.
This is project started by folks on Long Island to get local songwriters recorded and distributed. It is planned as a series of recording. What I am appreciative of is how much of the focus is on the actual art of songwriting. Some great writers of all ages and backgrounds. I am honored to have been chosen for the inaugural disc. Here is link to the kickstarter campaign. Consider donating!
Songwriting is an important form of communication. The act of writing and performing songs connects us to a tradition that takes us back to the earliest days of our collective experience. Even in a time of 24/7 access, constant visual stimulation and minimal attention span people yearn for the experience of getting together and hearing other people's stories and sharing their own. The popularity of open mics and the sheer amount of people playing and performing original music has transformed the way music is shared and heard. Recording technology has evolved to the point where everyone can record and distribute their songs and stories. I launched this website to allow me to communicate information about myself but also to celebrate all of us who are sharing through our songs and stories, Pieces Of Our Souls.
